I have a copy of the video Food Inc. One of the activities that you can do individually or as a group is to review a documentary on a controversial topic. I would encourage you to watch this video together as a group and discuss the information presented in the movie. Each one of you would then write your reaction to the content of the movie and the discussion that takes place with your peers. Finished one page essays must be posted on your personal wiki page within three days of watching the movie.
You are welcome to organize and watch the movie in one of your homes or I will show it at school one evening or weekend. If you are a leader and want to do this please organize the group and let me know when you need the movie.
SYNOPSIS
In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, insecticide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won't go bad, but we also have new strains of e coli--the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually.
We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults
Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield Farms' Gary Hirschberg and Polyface Farms' Joe Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising -- and often shocking truths -- about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.

I recommend that EVERYONE watch this movie! It opens your eyes to so much. I know so little about the food I eat, and after watching this movie it makes you realize where everything comes from. It's really sad that we don't have a say in what we eat anymore.
I would like to view the video. I will come to you on monday (if I can remember) and as for it. I will have my sister write the essay and watch the movie along with me that way it is kind of a group thing.
Me and Zach are very excited to watch this movie. Both of us have read some of Michael Pollans work and he is a very interesting man. The conclusions he can draw are astounding. It would be nice to see where are food really comes from
I am currently watching this in my chef 2 class, and it is appauling the way they treat these animals. I almost wanted to be sick. I would recommend this movie to everyone so they can realize what these poor animals are going through.
