This blog is home of the 21st century scholars course at East Knox High School. Those who visit must interact , debate, and discuss events that are important to our lives.
I think that I now revoke my previous statement of the iPad being dumb. I think that now that it has been revealed there are going to be so many new things available. It is proving to really be an amazing piece of technology. I really enjoyed the digital book of the human body. The fact that it is interactive, makes it so much more appealing. I think that it would also help with learning, getting to see a working model, compared to an imaginary vision provoked from a dull paragraph. The children's book is quite innovative, but who would really trust their young child with a five-hundred dollar piece of technology?
Kids hands really arent that clean. Is all of this technology really good for our eyes? I have heard of some colleges using applications from ipod touches in thier classes but what about the indivisuals that cant afford them? The "ipad" still seems a bit crazy to me but i think its just another step in technology.
I think this is a good idea! Like Krystine said, it's just one step up in technology. On the other hand, I wouldn't trust every kid with one of these, thats for sure.
This reminds me of the science fiction (real science fiction! from the 40's) short story called "Mimsy Were the Borogoves". Here is a wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimsy_Were_The_Borogoves . The story has to do with how our young are taught, and I feel the part with the baby things is a similar development to the ones in the short story.
As for the iPad, I am going to wait until other companies release similar products. I think Archos is working on one...
I agree with Krystine. The IPad is a very creative new piece of technology that everyone will want but is it afforadable? I as well have heard that many colleges use some appications from the itouch, and college is already expensive enough without needing to add anything else. The ipad is a very interesting, it could be very beneficial but costly to the future.

I feel the ipad is just another step in a long line of new technology. But I'm from btown so i agree with jessica about the expence, i can see that being a little to expensive for me.
I would love to have something like this for college. I am not sure whether I would rather the ipad are the microsoft currieor (not sure how to spell that) They would both be helpful to much of my everyday life, and my love for learning. It would be endless!
All students taking any type of flex-credit course must participate in the Current Events Blog. You are expected to discuss the articles and videos as well as comment or debate with other students. You must comment at a minimum of twice a week and correct grammar and spelling is expected. The blog will be updated Sunday nights or early Monday mornings. Depending on the discussions I may add additional articles later in the week. I will try to include current events that are important and relevant to your lives. If you find an article or video you would like me to post on the blog please email me at rgallwitz@gmail.com with the link.

I trust my 2nd grader with a $1,800 macbook!!
The digital anatomy textbook is great. I really believe some high school textbooks will be like that before you know it!

I think the Ipad is so cool! I can't wait to get one. I also agree that many schools will soon have the ipads in place of textbooks.
