Even though Taylor Swift beat Beyonce in getting the album of the year, it's still pretty impressive to win six awards!

I think honestly the Grammy's and other award shows are over rated. I mean it's good to acknowledge those who use their talents to not only entertain the world but to educate and make it a better place but is there really a need for all the fiasco? If you think about it, nowadays if you talk to a little kid or teenager who has aspirations of becoming famous through music or acting almost more than 3/4 of the time if you ask them why they want to do it, their response is "So I can become rich and famous." Hardly anyone now does it for the pure love of the industry. You look at the old timey musicians and singers or actors and some did it because they have no choice, others do it because they enjoy bringing smiles and joy to others, and then the select few actually did it for the fame and gamlour. All I'm saying is that entertainment now is nothing like how it use to be. And I honestly don't think we need award shows to showboat around who is able to sell the most copies of some CD that a hate group burned.

Kaila: I see where your coming from but I don't think that is entirely the case. Personally we don't know why singers/actors became famous. We only know what the media tells us. I'm sure having money and being famous is a big factor but if you truly love doing something it doesn't matter about the fame and money. We have celebrities that are like that now it's just hard to see it. All we see is what is in movies and on tv, and when we listen to music we just hear what they are singing about. If you think about it, a lot of the songs that come out are similar to each other and its most likely because the media says something is "in" and everyone flocks to it. There are some individuals that are completely different and those are the ones people notice the most. I'm just saying that we don't really know why people do the things they do, we only see one side of it.

I personally agree with Kaila. I think the awards are a nice novelty, but are indeed over rated. The awards function more as a promotion then an actual way to decided what is best.

An form of media, whether it is music, movies, literature, is highly subjective and therefor nothing can truly win or loose. The awards are a recognition of the commonly respected acts.

I have always followed the Academy awards more closely than Grammy's, and similar problems exist there.

Also, if you've never read the letter the Sex Pistols sent to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame saying they didn't want to be included, I recommend reading about it somewhere.

I like wise agree with Kaila And David. The Grammy`s are over rated. They are said to be held at such a a high standard, but all they are doing is recognizing people for a job well done. Not that Kaila was blaming the Grammy`s for kids wanting to be actors or musicians, but I disagree with that. Children see that career as fun and entertaining. It does not jsut have to be acting or music, it can be any type of entertainment on television that can attract them.

I actually enjoyed watching the Grammys. I feel the Grammys are just another form of entertainment. Pink put on the show and the Michael Jackson video was an inspiration for people to open their eyes and start taking care of our one and only planet - Earth. The Red Cross and the relief effort in Haiti also got alot of exposure. These are all good messages.

I personaly think that Beyonce deserved this award. She works very hard at what she does and deserves something for it. I also think that Taylor Swift deserved the album of the year. It was all pretty exciting.

I agree with Kaila and David, getting a grammy award is to over dramatized. Why don't we give awards to everyday people that deserve them actually. Like the firefighter who risks his life everyday for someone else, or the doctor who works twenty hour days, or the single mom who works to support her family.

Getting an award for a song just seems kind of senseless. Maybe i think that because i don't listen to that much music, but i think we could be better off without the awards.

I agree that the Grammy's are overrated but some of the acts are every entertaining. It’s neat when artists that don't seem to have much in common (T-pain and Slash for example) perform together to make some wonderful music. My personal favorite was the performance by Elton John and Lady Gaga. I think it was a successful show.

I agree with Kaila. People put way to much thought and time towards watching things such as the Grammys. And there is like a hundred different award shows like that.
