NBC and other networks were criticized Saturday for broadcasting the disturbing video of a Georgian luger who died after flying off the track and slamming into a steel beam during an Olympic training run. Please look over the article and share your thoughts. Do you think they should have shown the video?

All i can really say about the incident is that im so glad i wasnt watching when it happened. I dont really think this video should be aired our of respect for the man who lost his life and his family. They have enough to deal with right now.

I agree with Krystine, it doesn't seem necessary to show the video.

Yes, I kind of agree with Krys too. One thing they could have done was show him going off the track but not the impact. I wonder if they will be going over the track, or fixing it. They wouldn't want any more fatal crashes. That is very sad. I am kind of suprised they are still using the track after what happened.

I'm not going to lie, that video was sickening. I mean how could anyone watch that and not feel the most extreme amount of sympathy for the human body going through something like that? I also think that it would have been morally correct to not show the video in sheer respect of the luger's family. I watched a brief interview with the guy's father and he said he does not ever want to see the video, despite it being all over the internet and tv.

I also agree with Krystine. It is a horrible tragedy. They are trying to make the coarses more and more dangerous every year and trying to exceed the limit. I was very suprised when I heard about this on Sportscenter. Its a huge loss. I would also be worried for the other racers after what has happened. I don't know if I would be able to do it. I don't think the video should be aired, have respect for his family.

I watched this video the first time they showed it on TV and the whole time I was sitting there thinking, he must be ok because they couldn't possibly show someone lose their life on TV... wait he died! Turn it off!!!! It was terrible and disrespectful to the athlete and his friends and family, no one should have been able to see that. Imagine all the children who were watching the Olympics and witnessed that.... Terrible.

I agree with Krystine, I do not think they need to show the video. It is tragic enough to make it to the Olympics and then die. I hope they decide to fix the coarse because they do not need another incident on their hands.

The video was quite sickening. And to post it on the internet, is not right. I wouldn`t want how i died posted all over the internet. Some sickening people out there would think it`s cool. But really, it`s disrespectful and not right for the victim and his family/friends.

I watched the video out of curiosity because I heard about it all weekend, but when i actually saw it I wish i hadn't. I don't think it should have been released to the public, not only for to respect the family of the victim like Krystine said but also for the sake of the people who watch it. You would think that the officials in the Olympics would go over the track each time a run was done that way to make sure nothing was coming out of place and to make sure it was still safe for the next luger. I think the way the Olympic coordinators handled it was poor. I feel deep remorse for the athletes family, and I just seriously think the way this was handled could have been done better.
