Tsunami waves wash ashore in Hawaii

EWA BEACH, Hawaii - A tsunami triggered by an earthquake in Chile swept ashore in Hawaii on Saturday, but the initial waves did not appear to cause significant damage.

The first waves looked more like an extreme fluctuation in the tide than the giant tsunami that Hawaii and the rest of the Pacific Ocean were bracing for after the magnitude-8.8 quake devastated Chile.

Oh my, that's horrible!! First Haiti, now Chile and Hawii. I feel bad about complaining about Ohio's bipolar weather.

I completely agree with Emily. Yes our weather is being completely all over the place, but fist the tragedy in Haiti, now Hawaii is going through a tsunami. Hopefully there will be beneficial help for them. Atleast our weather is not catastrophic.

I was very worried when I heard about the possible tsunami heading to Hawaii since my cousin and her family live there. Thank goodness they are safe and all the Hawaiian people. Weather can be very scary because it is so unpredictable.

I agree with Jessica and Emily. Hearing about the disaster in Haiti and now this Tsunami in Hawaii? It's so sad to hear about these situations, but it does give you some perspective on things. Like our weather. One day its a snow storm the next it's warm! We should be thankful that our weather isn't as near as bad as some other places. We could have it a lot worse.

I also agree with Emily and Jessica. Haiti was a horrible tragedy and now Chile and Hawaii have to go through this. It's horrible. We should think twice about the weather we get..which is only rain/thunderstorms and a little bit of snow :)

The weather has always been crazy and unexplanable. All that we can do is help people who it effects and try to know as much about it before it happens.

I heard that the earthquake in Chile knocked Earth 3 inches off of its axis, causing the day to be shorter by one millionth of a second. Is that true?

Like Emily said, a lot of people complain about our weather in Ohio and as we can see it could be a lot worse. i'd take our snowy weather any day.

It is terrible that things have been happening across sea. We need to help out as much as we can. We need to give or voluteer etc. I was watching the possible tsunami live on fox news while it was happening.
