Books I read in October 2024

This video was created by Michael Wesch in 2007. It was an assignment for his Intro to Cultural Antropology class at Kansas State University. The ideas or facts presented in the video pertain to college students not high school students but I'm sure you can relate. I found it really interesting.
I thought this video was very interesting. But honestly, im going to be a nerd in college. Im going to be one of those wierd students that shows up a half an hour before class, sits in the front row, reads my textbook as if it were the bible and probably try and record the lecture. And i know going from 20 people in a class to 120 people is going to be a huge difference but im excited for it.
I agree this video was interesting. I look forward to going to college and sitting in a classroom with other students, but I also don't want to waste my time and money on classes that don't relate to the real world. I like the flexibility of taking my lessons on line and at my own pace, but I also feel like I miss alot of the social life of a teenager. So a nice blend of both would be perfect.
I completely agree with Halle and the video about how a lot of the classes you have to take in college are not relevant to student’s lives. I am looking forward to college in Ireland where they have no general requirement classes so you get into the classes that are involved with your major right away. I got a sample schedule for a US college yesterday and my first year there I would have only one major biased class. Waste of time? I think so. If I was planning on going to a US college I would be very glad I took most of my general requirement classes post-secondary in high school.
I have already been taking classes at the Naz, and it is the simple truth that college work can be overwhelming. I am able to finish all my reading, but that is because I am taking only two classes.
The truth is that with college is that you will be given more than is digestible. There are many facts that will be forgettable. Even if you read the textbook as a holy text, it will not be enough. The textbook only contains an assortment of facts. College classes are more focused on the value of the class as the whole, and what you take with you through your final projects or papers.
I find what Felicia has said about Irish colleges to be interesting. I think U.S. colleges will soon model foreign schools, or will at least shift to a more focused study base.
I think it's sad that we pay so much for college but we mainly forget things, or dont pay attention. No one makes you go to class, or makes you put your phone away, or yells at you for being on facebook.

I thought this video was awesome! I wonder if it was a wakeup call to any college professors? The book things was what I always thought about, when thinking about going to college and expenses. Why pay over $100 for a book, that everyone in the class every year is required to read? They should use them like they do in high school, or I know, since students are on line so much, why not put the book on-line, then they have access to it and to copy, paste, and hightlight important parts.
I like your suggestion Megan. With digital copies you could also print pages if you need to. Also, many devices, including laptops, cellphones and advanced MP3 files are sources to carry your text with you.
