Check out this article in the New York Times on how the Vail, Arizona school district has transformed one of its school buses into a rolling study hall equipped with wireless Internet access for students. Could be a great solution for some of your students' long bus rides?

This a great idea! For most students there's not enough time in a day. Having wi-fi in buses helps everyone with time management and really would help settle kids down on the bus ride to and from school. Hopefully East Knox will provide wi-fi on our buses soon!

Well I don't ride a bus anymore, nut for how far our school district is spread out, from Martinsburg to almost Mount Vernon, this would be a great feature to have for all of those kids who dont get home until quite late and have many projects to get done.

I think that having wi-fi on a school bus is a waste of money. It would seem that only students who are already academically inclined would actually do work on their computers. For most, it would be another excuse to use Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. I think that it could and most likely would create new problems.

I think having the internet on buses comes with some pros and cons. Like megan said, it is good for students that have a long bus ride home and have a lot of homework or researching to do but, I don't think this will happen. I think it would interfere with the bus drivers driving having to worry about what everyone is doing and looking at. I also think it would cause a lot of problems. So, I guess we will see what happens.

I think that having Wi-Fi on buses is a really neat idea. It doesn't sound too expensive and could come in great handy on long sports rides esp. when games last all night and by the time you get back home the last thing you want to do is sit in front of the computer... My only concern is how many kids would actually be able to take advantage of it? The school can't provide lap tops for all students so there are still going to be rowdy kids on the bus...

I only ride the bus every once in awhile, but for the kids who have to ride it all the time, I think it would be a great idea. Some kids would appreciate having this on the buss. But others could direspect the property and destroy it. That`s one thing to think about. But it gives the kids something to do so they are not picking on all the other kids. It`s good for the kids who forgot to do their homework and they need the computer for it. or others who don`t have technology at home.

I think having wi-fi on buses would be a great idea if students wouldn't abuse the privilege. But I believe the pros of having wi-fi out weigh the cons. The greatest benefit in my opinion would be that students are able to get homework done that require the internet. It would also benefit students who don't have internet access at home and school is the only way to get projects and homework done. Yes, it would tempt some to get on facebook, myspace, etc..but that is their choice to waste their time.
