This blog is home of the 21st century scholars course at East Knox High School. Those who visit must interact , debate, and discuss events that are important to our lives.
This video clip definitely shows how much we rely on the internet every day. Our society is very technology driven. I am a prime example of using facebook, myspace, and YouTube everyday.
When I watched this video I was amazed!I knew that the internet was a big deal, but I never realized how much people rely on it. I wonder where we would be now if we didnt have the internet!
Im not sure if it is a good thing, or a bad thing that the internet has grown so much. We rely so heavily on it. For EVERYTHING. GOne are the days, of looking words up in dictionaries, thesauruses, using text books to find information. Which is really helpful but if something ever happened to the internet, how would we as people survive?
I don't know what we would do without the internet. I figured everyone used it, but not this much! It shocked me. We rely on technology a lot these days. Like Kayla said..where would we be today if we didn't have the internet?
I agree with Cody`s statement. I do not know if the internet is a good thing or bad thing. We do rely on it too much, which is not good thing. It is crazy to watch that video and see how powerful the internet is. I would never have known that the amount and percentages were that high.
My computer has crashed several times since freshman year and i would have lost all of my photos if it werent for sites like photobucket.com. I think the internet is a good thing, as long as we do not depend on it so heavily. It is a fast and free way to share information... but sometimes to much information is a bad thing.
I agree with Cody. Gone are the original ways of finding information. It's unbelievable how many people rely on the internet. In the book Freakonomics they talk about how the internet is destroying the need of specialists because we can easily obtain their secret information online. I guess we just have to accept the fact that everything is converting to the technological side.
I feel the internet is a good thing for the most part. It has its flaws just like everything else. Me personaly, i would survive just fine without the internet, i'm more of an outside kind of person
The internet is deffinatly a way of life for most people it the 21st century. We will never back track either. It is kind of scary and interesting at the same time to think what the world will be like 50 years from now, or even 5 years. Mr. Gallwitz I would love to have a class that could teach you how to create videos such as this one.
I feel we rely heavily on the internet, but I feel we do not depend on it. Most of the stats concern trivial things like videos and community sites. We have to realize a lot of what we do as teenagers on the internet is really just something to pass the time. World War II had great technology and that was decades before the Internet.
All students taking any type of flex-credit course must participate in the Current Events Blog. You are expected to discuss the articles and videos as well as comment or debate with other students. You must comment at a minimum of twice a week and correct grammar and spelling is expected. The blog will be updated Sunday nights or early Monday mornings. Depending on the discussions I may add additional articles later in the week. I will try to include current events that are important and relevant to your lives. If you find an article or video you would like me to post on the blog please email me at rgallwitz@gmail.com with the link.
